Thursday Nite Bluegrass

unplugged

THURSDAY NITE BLUEGRASS

Who are... Earl Scruggs... Josh Graves... Bill Monroe... or Tony Rice ?
If you don't know any of these artists... you're at the wrong web page.

Because Thursday night means bluegrass... acoustic bluegrass to be precise... We hold a semi-open jam every Thursday night from 7:30 to 10:00pm and play traditional, old time, truegrass in a comfortable, relaxed environment for all skill levels...

A typical night begins with a slower bluegrass tune, to warm up, and then in turn we will pick a tune from the Thursday Nite Bluegrass song book or maybe we'll play something new someone has brought. We sometimes practice what is called close three part harmony which means the three parts are the three notes in the chord as opposed to separating by an octave or octaves. We might play an instrumental tune three of four times experimenting with different solo's... or we may sing a tune several times using different styles, or with a different lead singer so we all get a chance to try the harmony parts.

The key is we're all there to have fun and enjoy bluegrass. We're not a club, we don't dress up, we don't listen to CDs, we don't sit around drinking... we play bluegrass... if that sounds like a good Thursday night to you... you'd probably be welcome.

FEBRUARY WORKSHOP

The last weekend in February every Year (the 2013 dates are 22,23,24) we host an acoustic music workshop that encompasses three days of music, good food, and great instruction, where you get to play and talk bluegrass, bluegrass and more bluegrass. The 2013 instructors have confirmed and Chris Quinn and James Whittall will be back to fill you with all the knowledge you can hold! The student reviews were very clear! These two gentleman are not only excellent musicians but gifted teachers able to extract the best from our students!

On Saturday night there's a band scramble followed by a jam session to test your new skills. I'm told the jam has the feel of an old country hall jam, and a great time is had by all.

This Years Classes have space available
